Georgian Bay Islands National Park
The picturesque Georgian Bay Islands National Park includes some 60 islands on Lake Huron - from Honey Harbor to Twelve Mile Bay, about 50 km to the north. Characteristic of the park are two types of landscape - glacial rocks, and the Canadian shield forests typical of the south.
Rock formations off the coast of the island of Flowerpot.
They can be seen on the northern tip of the largest and most beautiful island, Beausoleil, 40 minutes by boat from Honey Harbor. On the island, designated 11 short hiking trails, two of which begin on a floating marina Cedar Spring, on the southeast coast.
The first is the Treasure Trail, which runs along the shore to the north, the swamps. Second, Christian Trail, leads among the beeches and maples to the forests. Offers a view from there on the rocky beaches of the west coast. At the northern tip of Beausoleil, near several more marinas, signposting scenic trails Cambrian and Fairy. During the journey you can enjoy a more stringent target of Canadian landscapes. Near the west Dossyonshing Trail runs, leading the midst of wetlands, forests and granite rocks, delimiting the border between the two types of landscape. |
